FirstOnSite Sponsors Women in Trades at 2018 Trades Expo
We are pleased to announce our title sponsorship of the Tradeswomen Spotlight at the 2018 Trades Expo, which takes place from October 25 to 26 in Surrey, British Columbia. While at the Expo, we will be inviting jobseekers to learn about the industry and how to become a member of our growing team.
“The Trades Expo is an amazing opportunity for job seekers – male and female – to come and talk to us firsthand and learn more about our industry and growing team,” said Eric Hecht, Director of Operations, B.C., FirstOnSite Restoration. “We have more than 60 women working with FirstOnSite in the B.C. region alone and we are excited to be supporting the Tradeswomen Spotlight. The majority of our leadership team came up from the field in trades, myself included, and we see it as an excellent opportunity for a great career helping people in times of crisis, with lots of opportunities for advancement.”
The Tradeswomen Spotlight enables attendees to meet women in various trades professions. Women represent 50 per cent of the population, and about 123,000 jobs will be available in the trades over the next five years. This provides women with a great opportunity to join a profession where they can own their skills, have long-term job security, and earn great wages, especially in the growing restoration industry, which is worth $210 billion in North America.
The Trades Expo and FirstOnSite welcome students, newcomers, and adults who are interested in the trades to visit booth #320 where they can speak to leadership and field staff about the growing industry and job opportunities across Canada.
